In order to execute the most precise ink patterns on heat-sensitive paper or ribbons, a properly maintained printhead must be utilized. A printhead
is a line of resistors that creates images on temperature reactive surfaces via precisely aligned dots of heat. Thermal printing is commonly used to produce sales receipts and barcoded labels, but there are many more uses as well.
Printheads consist of many elements, and when those elements are heated, the coating on the thermal ribbon
melts to get transferred for printing. The sensitive nature of this process warrants special attention to be paid to ensure the duration of the part’s service time is maximized. It is imperative they get replaced if they start to show wear. A damaged printhead
has a tendency to produce poor print quality and create dismal, and often times completely unreadable bar codes. So be sure to stock up on our quality printheads.
