HP 4250/4350 Maintenance Kit

If the display panel on your HP LaserJet reads "perform printer maintenance", "perform user maintenance", or anything along those lines it means your printer needs a preventative maintenance kit

Some people refer to these as "fuser kits". What are they? Maintenance kits contain a fusing assembly, rollers, and separation pads that frequently wear out in printers. The fusing assembly is the component that bonds toner to paper through a combination of heat and pressure. If your printer display reads“PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE” then your printer has reached its maintenance interval and a maintenance kit should be installed.

To ensure optimum print quality, the printer provides a prompt to perform routine maintenance every 225,000 pages (default setting).

My office has a HP 4250 printer. The fuser was stamping smudgy blobs of text periodically through the center of our documents. I was nervous about diagnosing the problem from online posts, ordering an expensive maintenance kit, and replacing the parts on my own, without the advice of a technician.
